Autumn is definitely a great time to visit Berlin. The tourist crowds thin out, the city’s history feels more intimate, and the changing colors transform every walk into a scenic adventure.

But maybe you’ve still got some questions about your trip to Berlin in the fall. That’s why we’ve whipped up this handy guide full of practical tips and inspiration for making the most of Berlin in autumn.

Is Berlin Worth Visiting in Autumn?

Your answer: absolutely!

Summer might be the busy season, but fall is my favorite time of year in Berlin. To that end, I actually arrived here for the first time in September, so this time of year is always special to me.

Berlin undergoes a stunning seasonal transformation as trees turn fiery shades of red, orange, and gold, creating the perfect backdrop for your exploratory adventures.

With fewer tourists, you can take your time at iconic spots like:

  • Checkpoint Charlie
  • The East Side Gallery (a 1.3 km stretch of the Berlin Wall)
  • The historic boulevard Unter den Linden

Berlin’s expansive parks also shine this time of year, offering some of the best spots to enjoy the fall colors. Plus, the winter months are absolutely the perfect time to enjoy some classic German comfort food or a beer or two.
