Looking for something to eat on a budget in Berlin?
Berlin: poor but sexy! With recent inflation, oh how Berliners wish for that slogan to still be true. Gentrification marches on and food prices have gone up in recent years. That means that Berlin, once a haven for affordable dining, is definitely not so cheap nowadays.
But fear not, budget-conscious friends! You can still savor delicious, authentic dishes for under €10. You just have to know where to look. Here are a few of our favorites.

Where To Eat For Less Than €10 In Berlin

Dumplings Nian
Can you eat out for just €5? At Dumplings Nian, the answer is a resounding yes. Here, you can snatch ten dumplings for just a fiver (€7 if you want them fried). Then head to the sauce area to zhush yours up any way you like. There are other affordable dishes on the menu here as well (we tried the seaweed salad). As for ambiance, it’s loud, busy and bright—ie. not exactly a romantic date destination. But the dumplings are so good you will forgive them for that.

Banh Mi Stable
Banh Mi is one of those brilliant food creations that almost everyone loves. Get your fill here at the stable, with a choice of just four fillings: crispy roasted pork belly, chicken peanut saté, omelette, or marinated tofu—all for just €7. (There’s also a dessert version with coconut milk that sounds intriguing!) I suggest getting it to go and eating it in the park across the street or even wandering further down to Monbijoupark to enjoy with a view.

Azzam
Azzam may appear unassuming, but don’t let its simplicity fool you. This unpretentious eatery is renowned for serving some of the best Levantine cuisine in town. The huge plates of Hummus and Tahini are legendary, as is the warm Musalaha served with pita bread. Don’t miss the delectable pickles, falafel, Shawarma, and Kafta. The steady stream of eager patrons waiting for a table is a testament to its popularity. Expect to pay between €1 and €10 for dishes, with complimentary tea. (I always got home with a ton of leftovers!)

Hamy
There are lots of affordable Vietnamese joints in the city but Hamy sticks out for its low prices and good food. You’ll probably have to share a table with strangers because it’s always busy. However, the food is worth it. Take your pick from pho, noodles or rice-based dishes all for just €7.90.

Libanon Falafel
Libanon Falafel is a Berlin classic that serves up delicious falafel (24/7 for the shockingly low price of just €2.50. (I fondly remember the days when it used to be less than €2 but inflation comes for us all!) If you’ve spent the evening exploring the bars of Schillerkiez, this is a great choice for your midnight snack. Falafel is the cheapest offering on the menu but they have other well-priced options like makali, halloumi and of course, schwarma/kebab.

Munchies
When I say this place is mega-viral, don’t think I’m exaggerating. Don’t go here unless you’re prepared to queue. But the long lines are a testament to the food inside, and the wait will almost certainly be worth it. Formerly a food truck, Munchies has found a happy permanent home in Bergmannkiez. Their menu features mouthwatering delights like buttery brioche sandwiches piled high with beef, flavorful birria tacos, crispy fries, and spicy Nashville hot chicken tenders. Most items are under €10.

Okay, so when I call this place cheap I mean getting one slice of pizza is cheap. While that will mostly do the trick for me, I know it doesn’t for many of my guy friends. (You’ve been warned!) However, the pizza here is delectable and worth the splurge for a whole pizza if you’re so inclined. And if you’re craving an American-style slice, it’s the only place in town.

This unassuming pizzeria in Berlin offers surprisingly good value and taste. Despite its modest exterior, the restaurant offers ample seating and a simple, old-school Italian menu. While the service is self-service, the pizzas, particularly the salami and prosciutto, are beloved for their quality and affordability. Even the lasagna has been singled out as the best in Berlin. The fast-paced atmosphere and friendly staff contribute to a pleasant dining experience, making it a popular choice for locals and tourists alike. (Think: €7.50 pizza and €3 wine.)
