Laptop-Friendly Cafes in Mitte

St. Oberholz

There’s no question that the OG of coworking in Berlin is St Oberholz. Founded in 2005, the original location at Rosenthaler Platz offers multiple levels of seating. (The third floor is for members only.) Many Berlin startups were conceived here and the clientele very much reflect that entrepreneurial vibe. (If you hate overhearing those types of conversations, give it a miss!) This also means that it’s busy af. Try to get here as early as you can in the morning to secure your space or try their secondary Mitte cafe at the nearby Zehdenicker Straße.

Tip: if you feel like working late, the Rosenthaler Platz location is one of the few options in Berlin open past 6pm!

Erchy’s

Erchy’s in Mitte is a bright, plant-filled café, boasting friendly service, reliable WiFi, and a menu featuring delicious cappuccinos, homemade cakes, and savory vegetarian options like (vegan) scrambled eggs and their popular Pink Bowl. Beyond the inviting atmosphere and tasty food, including a noteworthy pistachio croissant, Erchy’s also showcases a charming collection of succulents and cacti, hinting at a shared love for nature. While laptop-friendly seating is primarily at the central communal table and along the walls, it’s wise to arrive by 10 am to secure a spot, especially if you plan to work, as this popular early-bird spot (opening at 8 am) tends to fill up quickly.

The Greens

Tucked away in a quiet industrial corner of Mitte, this vegetarian café offers a unique urban jungle escape, brimming with vibrant plants – all of which are available for purchase! The stunning interior provides a tranquil atmosphere, though the prime laptop-friendly spots are mainly the few tables situated in the stairwell, where the WiFi signal is reportedly strongest; the connection on the outdoor tables is less certain. While they boast a tempting array of vegan options, including a standout cashew cheese and greens croissant and a delightful lemon rosemary cookie, it’s best to arrive early to snag these popular savory treats before they sell out. Still somewhat of a hidden gem due to its more secluded location, this café is worth seeking out for its beautiful ambiance and delicious plant-based offerings. (This one is on my list of 50 best places to take photos in Berlin!)

Coffee Circle

Coffee Circle is a coffee chain in Berlin. However, only the MItte and Wedding locations are laptop friendly. Just check to see which tables are off-limits before you sit down (they are clearly marked). (See their Wedding location here!)

Blumental

Blumental, a café steeped in history on the former site of Germany’s first trade union building and a tropical institute, now offers more than just delicious vegetarian and vegan cuisine; it’s also a haven for remote workers, located near the Kreuzberg border.

Blumental provides fast Wi-Fi and ample power outlets in a quieter workspace at the back, separate from the breakfast crowd and bathed in natural light. This designated coworking area is freely accessible on weekdays from 9 am to 6 pm (10 am to 6 pm on Fridays) without registration, though arriving early is recommended to secure a spot. (No laptops on weekends!)

Frea Bakery

Frea Bakery is a great spot for lush baked goods and a laptop-friendly atmosphere. They offer a fully vegetarian menu (with fully plant-based baked items), use locally sourced ingredients, and compost all their organic waste. While they used to be completely vegan, they aren’t any longer so be warned to double-check. (Their sister restaurant is still completely vegan however!)

Their WiFi is generally reliabel and there are a limited number of outlets near the entrance. On weekdays, Frea Bakery usually has plenty of space for those wanting to work or relax. Weekends, however, tend to be busier, with brunch patrons getting priority. If you plan to work on a weekend, consider coming for a meal or visiting in the afternoon.

The Store X Berlin (Soho House)

Trying to spot Harry Styles while you work? This might be your best bet, thanks to the Soho House Berlin hotel upstairs. While you need a membership (or a member) to get upstairs, the cafe and store space downstairs is open to everyone. It’s a beautiful airy space and usually there’s enough room to find a seat. Although on the pricier side (obviously) they offer healthy lunch plates alongside more standard coffees and pastries. The tables are spread out throughout the store so make sure you look around before thinking it’s full. The shop itself is high-end but it can also be a great place for small gifts or magazines.

Mug + Spoon

Mug+Spoon is a relaxed cafe, right next to bustling Rosenthaler Platz. If you can’t get in at St. Oberholz, this is a good otopn. They offer a mix of drinks, including matcha as well as a selection of breakfast dishes like porrige

Please note that while they are fully laptop-friendly during the week, they can only take laptops after 15:00 on the weekends.

Where: Rosenthaler Str. 3, 10119 Mitte | Map

KAFFEEMITTE

If you need a working meal, head to Weinmeisterstrasse, in the central Mitte district. Cosy KAFFEEMITTE, right near the U-Bahn, serves massive brunch platters featuring homemade hummus, guacamole and pesto with fresh rolls and fruit. Despite the name, it’s not all about the coffee here; there’s hot milk and honey, homemade mint or ginger tea and freshly squeezed orange juice. While they do have wifi and are laptop-friendly, this place is always busy. If you need quiet to focus, this one is not for you.

Codos Coffee

Codos Coffee, located near Rosenthaler Platz, is a promising laptop-friendly café. It’s generally a quieter space with ample seating and outlets, and they offer a stamp card program. While the WiFi is decent, it can become less reliable after about 1.5 hours. Although it’s not the original location with the brunch plates and courtyard, this Codos Coffee offers its own appeal, including floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Weinbergspark and the lively intersection.

Daluma

While there are lots of health-focused cafes in the area, Daluma was the first and it remains king with the Barry’s Bootcamp crowd. It’s also the first (that I’m aware of) to offer healthy pressed juices and smoothies in Berlin—not the typical overly sugary kind. It’s also arguably the most chic, with a minimal high-end look and positively zero crunchy hippie vibes! The prices are on the high side but you know the food is healthy and tasty. It’s also a great place to pick up a kombucha, vegan protein powder, or juice cleanse to bring home.

They also have reliable wifi and you’re more than welcome to sit and hang out for a while. However, there seems to be just one outlet so come with a full charge.

Lucy’s

Lucy’s Healthy Deli Concept is a mostly vegan cafe, serving up delicious salads and smoothies alongside their coffee. If you’re on a cleanse or a diet, this is a great choice! They also have wifi, plenty of outlets, and complimentary water.

Please note that tey have another location nearby which is not as laptop-friendly.

Studio Natura

Studio Natura is a charming cafe with a focus on healthy natural foods. If you’re after overnight oats or a Joe & The Juice style tunacado sandwich, this is the perfect choice. You can also grab coffee of course or one of their delicous matchas. Please note that while they are laptop-friendly during the week, weekends are reserved for their brunch guests.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8-17:30 Saturday & Sunday 10-17:30

19grams

With several locations across Berlin, 19grams is a popular spot for a tasty brunch, with the Reuben Sandwich being a highlight and the Bubble & Squeak Benedict a tempting alternative. While brunch isn’t required to work, their menu also features smaller bites like homemade bread, cakes, and pastries. All their locations welcome laptops with fast WiFi and ample indoor and outdoor seating, but only on weekdays; weekends are reserved solely for brunch. Arriving around 10 am on a weekday should secure a good spot, as even by noon, there’s usually still available seating.

Distrikt Coffee

The sister cafe to the eternally popular Annelie’s is another great place to get some work done. Here, the food—like their popular avodcado toast—hits the right notes and the coffee (from Fjord Roasters) is top quality. They’re also laptop friendly during the week but on the weekends, they focus on brunch (as do so many other cafes).

Pure Origins Estate Coffee

Pure Origins is a busy cafe tucked in next to Friedrichstr S-Bahn. It serves good coffee and snacks, like their homemade cakes and their famous brownie. It’s open early and into the evening and it’s also very laptop-friendly! However, please note that your purchase gets you only one hour of wifi and it tends to attract a lot of students which means it’s busy and somewhat noisy. If you need quiet to focus, perhaps it’s not the best choice.

Wayne’s Coffee

Wayne’s is a favorite student haunt seeing as its situated across from Humboldt University.

Laptop-Friendly Cafes in Kreuzberg

Westberlin

Occupying space in another Brutalist building in Berlin, Westberlin cafe is a designer’s dream. Think beautiful minimalist furniture nestled up to the concrete walls, with some gorgeous coffees, sandwiches, and salads to keep you fortified as you work. You’ll find regular tables and sofas, along with outdoor seating which is great during the warmer months. However, the secret is out here and it can get quite busy, especially on the weekends as people take breaks from looking at König Galerie next door.

St Oberholz

St Oberholz (Berlin’s laptop-friendly cafe giant, if you haven’t noticed) offers a bright and funky cafe, tucked away in a hof (courtyard) off busy Oranienstrasse. This one has plenty of tables and outlets, as well as some cozier sofa seating. You get 90 minutes of free wifi when you order something, so be sure to tell the barista and get your receipt with access code.

Bonanza Roastery

Tucked away in a leafy courtyard just a stone’s throw from busy Kotti, is one of Berlin’s most established third-wave cafes. Bonanza is a roastery and a cafe: perfect for both coffee snobs and anyone who also desires to take a bag of coffee to make at home. The former brick-walled warehouse space is gorgeous and airy, with soaring ceilings. However, be warned: it’s a popular place to work. I went by recently at about 11am on a Tuesday and all available tables were full. So if you have your heart set on table (not just a stool), aim to get there early! (Also there’s no wifi!) (See their Prenzlauer Berg location here.)

The Visit Coffee Roastery

The Visit is one of my top picks in Kreuzberg for a working session. It’s open and airy and there always seems to be room to sit with your laptop. The coffee is good and so is the wifi. They also have a step-like seating area, which isn’t that comfortable but is great for a two-person meeting.

19grams Schlesi

19grams is a lovely work-friendly cafe right by Schlesisches Tor. They have excellent food, coffee, and wifi, as well as enough seating to accomodate everyone. Just be warned that there are no laptops on the weekends as they focus more on their ecxellent brunch menu. (This is also a great place to pick up some beans for at home!)

Brammibal’s

Brammibal’s is a true Berlin success story at this point, with branches located all around the city. However, I still have a sweet spot (ahem) for this one on Maybachufer, which was also their first ever location. When they first came on the scene there were no other gourmet donut shops around—let alone a fully vegan one! But they’re still the original with a legion of imitations. This shop is adorably pink and oh-so-friendly. (There’s even dog treat!) I believe all locations are laptop-friendly with wifi, but this is the only location I’ve pesonally worked from. I also love coming here for seasonal donut flavors and coffees, like vegan Pumpkin Spice. (See their Potsdamer Platz location here!)

Jules B-Part

If you’re near Gleisdreieck, Jules B-Part is a wonderful choice for working. B=Part offers places to sit and drink coffee. (They are most well-known for their outdoor food festival events.) However, they also have a coworking space that’s run by St Oberholz. (This requires a monthly membership.) But of course you can sit in the cafe anytime, working over a healthy lunch bowl. (This is the sister location to Jules Geisberg.)

Betahaus

Need a drop-in coworking space for just one day? Betahaus is one of the best places to do that. (A day pass is €24 while a monthly membership starts at €105.) But they also boast a cafe with great wifi as well as coffee, cakes and some lunch options. This is all housed in the former “taz” office building. (Don’t miss the…erm…artwork on the outside wall!)

Nest

Tucked away next to Görlitzer Park is The Nest: a cafe that is especially supportive of the laptop crowd. Order something from the menu (self-described “as world cuisine with a Berlin twist”) and set yourself up for some solid work hours. If you have a group of three of more, you can rent out the conference room which comes equipped with a projector and whiteboard. You can also pre-order your lunch at the time of booking.

Hallesches Haus

A former post office (and then nightclub) located on the Landwehrkanal now houses one of the most gorgeous cafes in Xberg: Hallesches Haus. The red brick building currently offers a concept store featuring homewares and books, as well as a restaurant/cafe. They serve a great variety of breakfast and brunch dishes, including sandwiches, vegan bowls, and baked goods from La Maison.

Laptops are accepted during the week but are not allowed on weekends!

UMA Hub

Sometimes a coworking space feels like a cool kids club that you’re not a member of. Not so at Uma! Here you can find a more traditional cafe as well as the coworking space. You can pop into the cafe and set up shop casually, but if you’re after something more consider a day pass. That includes: faster secured WiFi, a quieter space plus extra amenities, like printing and filtered water. And the prices are a steal: a four-hour pass is just €7, while the full-day pass is €15 and includes a café drink. They also have a podcast studio available with an hourly rate!

If all of that isn’t enough, they also offer a prayer room/quiet room for guests who need a few minutes away from the bubbling cafe noise.

Café Cuccuma

Folks who frequent Café Cuccuma rave about its perfect balance – not too bustling, not too hushed – making it a real sweet spot for getting things done. Settle in with one of their special coffees and take your pick from seating spread over two levels. (Snag a spot on the sofa if you’re lucky!) Just a heads-up, though – during busy times like lunchtime and weekends, you might find yourself sharing a table.

Blinis Espresso Lounge

Espresso Lounge is a casual and popular café for coffee lovers, and it’s easy to see why: the prices are great! You can count on them for high-quality coffee, including all your favorite espresso drinks, plus a nice tea selection. It’s an accessible and family-friendly space with outdoor seating. People appreciate the comfortable atmosphere, whether they’re stopping by for a quick coffee or settling in to work.

Where: Yorckstraße 3, 10965 Kreuzberg | Map

Loro

Loro is a small but welcoming café with an excellent coworking atmosphere. It features counter seating and a central communal table, where you’ll find convenient outlets and comfortable seating. The WiFi is reliable, and they offer a tempting selection of cakes, pastries, coffee, and some savory lunch options.

44 Brekkie Kreuzberg

Do you love Korean egg drop breakfast sandwiches? Then 44 Brekkie is a great choice. They’ve also got a few other locations in the city see Friedrichshain and Prenzlauer Berg. Some people think that the sandwiches are too pricy but I found them delicious and worth it. Great coffee too and wifi! The corner is a bit too loud for me to work outside personally but perhaps others will enjoy it.

Laptop-Friendly Cafes in Neukölln

Holy Coffee

Holy Coffee is one of my personal favorites. (I almost didn’t want to share it on this list!) Personally I think it’s a great place to work for a few hours. But they do have some laptop rules (which are totally fair in my view):

  • Order every hour
  • Share tables (The tables are usually plenty big enough for this!)
  • No loud phone calls
  • Be kind

21 gramm

Looking for something a bit out of the ordinary? How about a laptop friendly cafe located in a former cemetaray chapel? This busy corner of Neukölln offers an elevated and quiet cafe experience. (It’s named after the idea that we lose 21 grams of weight when we die: the idea being that that is how much your soul weighs.)

The place is gorgeous: soaring domed ceilings, brick walls and a lush outdoor seating area. The food is also quite exceptional. However be warned: laptops are only accepted during the week and there are only a few power outlets.

Nathanja & Heinrich Café / Bar

Another personal favorite! This place is great for an afternoon work session with cake or to meet that Tinder match. At night it can be quite lively but during the day it’s pretty chill. There’s a separate smoking area if that’s your preference.

Laidak

If you want a true Berlin cafe experience, Laidak is a great location. Not only are they a laptop friendly cafe during the day, but they turn into a cozy neighborhood bar in the evenings. (Who needs to go home anyway?) The prices are extremely reasonable and they have both smoking and non-smoking sections.

Where: Boddinstraße 42/43, 12053 Neukölln | Map

Nah Am Wasser

If you’re seeking out a playful experience, how does sitting in a swing chair while you work sound? Nah Am Wasser is tucked away beside the canal in Neukölln, offering delicious food and good wifi, as well as their unusual swing chairs. Regular chairs are available too of course and during the warm months, they have a sprawling patio area.

Just be warned that they might ask you to close the laptop around the lunch hour rush (12-14:00).

Leuchtstoff

If Pippi Longstocking ever decided to open a café, I bet it would feel a lot like Leuchtstoff. Think effortlessly charming, with a wonderfully thrown-together vibe. They’d be serving up fantastic coffees sourced from all over the globe, alongside some seriously delicious cakes (including vegan options!). You can just feel the DIY spirit in the air. The crowd? A cool mix of people from everywhere, all grooving to some great tunes—the perfect spot to recharge or let your creativity run wild.

Pêle-Mêle

If you’re after a vegan experience, Pêle-Mêle is a great choice in Neukölln. Not only is the cafe laptop-friendly and flowing with delicious food (like smoothies burgers, and bagels) but they also have a small coworking room that can be booked out for meetings (and will give you 20% off your food bill if you do).

(Probably not a great choice to come here to work during their Sunday buffet brunch!)

K-Fetisch

This might be the only queer cafe on this list! K-Fetisch is another Neukölln classic that defines itself as nonbinary queer and leftist owned. But they are friendly to everyone, and as you can see by the full tables, they are well-loved in the neighborhood. The cheap prices are another big plus. Laptops are only welcome at certain tables, so ask if you’re not sure. This one also morphs into a place for wine and friends in the evening, if you’re looking for an all-in-one experience.

Soulcafé

Cake, coffee and wifi are a winning combination and you can find all three at Soulcafe. This one’s perfect for working during your afternoonkaffee und kuchen. Loads of cozy vibes pair nicely with a matcha latte or sandwich, keeping your energy high for a proper work sesh.

Katie’s Blue Cat Cafe

Katie’s Blue Cat is famous for their handmade treats, like the Earl Grey shortbread cookie. But what really shines here is their top-notch coffee – they’re serious about sourcing those beans! The whole vibe is just super welcoming, and it’s a hit with both locals and visitors from all over. The downside: it’s on the small side, so you’ll likely share some space with other (usually friendly) patrons.

That Pink Cafe

This calming café in Berlin offers a harmonious and airy atmosphere with its simple yet elegant decor featuring vintage furniture, soothing muted green walls, scattered plants, and a classic chessboard. It’s a laptop-friendly space with diverse seating options, from a communal table to individual desks, though it can get chilly. While the food and drinks, including a creamy avocado sandwich, generously poured chai latte, delicious mostly plant-based pastries (especially the Raspberry Danish), and fantastic frilled cheese, have been consistently enjoyable, the WiFi has unfortunately been unreliable with slow speeds and blocked sites. Outlets are available for charging.

Michelberger Hotel

The Michelberger Hotel is a Berlin institution. This is my go-to recommendation for a hotel in Berlin. But it’s much more than that! Think: cafe, wine bar, events space, restaurant, and more. The lobby offers comfy seating or you can sit at the tables in the back. If the weather is warm, the courtyard is also an amazing choice.

There is always something going on here which means the place is pretty lively and social! (You definitely might catch sight of touring DJs or musicians on their way out or coming home.) The staff is lovely, and they have basically anything you could want, meaning it’s easy for your work day to turn into an evening of drinks without changing locations.

Fine Bagels / Shakespeare & Sons

Shakespeare & Sons is a unique English bookstore and café that offers the perfect library-like atmosphere. While some tables are designated laptop-free, there’s a specific laptop counter that fosters productivity. They offer free WiFi throughout the café and serve delicious bagels from Fine Bagels, both sweet and savory, along with cookies, and snacks. With an excellent selection of new and second-hand books, it’s conveniently located a short walk from Berghain. (Confession: I’ve stopped in here for a bagel on my way home from Berghain more than once!)

However, it tends to get crowded quickly, and laptops are not permitted on weekends, which are reserved for enjoying their renowned bagels and browsing the book selection.

Cafe Working Etiquette

It really sucks that so many cafes are not laptop-friendly. But I’ve also seen exactly why that is! My personal favorite La Maison used to be but it definitely got clogged up with people sitting there for hours and not ordering much. So be polite and mindful (meaning: don’t overstay your welcome).

  • Timing: Weekends are tricky everywhere so it’s better to work during the week. It’s also smart to arrive early to beat the lunch rush.
  • Budget: Expect €3-€6 for coffee plus more for sandwiches or snacks if you stay longer.
  • Policies: If you’re not sure, ask! I’ve done my research here but anyone can change their rules at any time. Check for permitted tables, time limits, and laptop restrictions if you’re not sure before you’ve ordered your coffee.

Beyond Laptop Friendly Cafes: Other Places To Work in Berlin

Coworking Spaces in Berlin

Berlin is home to many coworking spaces, with something for almost anyone. There are multiple locations of WeWork or you might want to check out the local Mindspace. Factory Berlin is a popular one but you must be a member to access the space.

I’ve already mentioned a few of the best coworking spaces above, as many of them have cafes as well as coworking spaces.

Manifesto Market

For a more unconventional approach, head to Manifesto Market in the oddly named Playce by Potsdamer Platz. Yes, this is a fancy food court, but it has a lot of upsides. It has a wide variety of food options, from to . There’s wifi and outlets to plug into, making it a good choice for a work session. Plus for you nightowls, it’s open until 22:00!
